Institutions of Accountability Series

Institutions of Accountability Series

The series is a part of public policy research of the Institute which aims to enhance the knowledge and to constructively engage the government and the public stakeholders in the public policy reform process dialogue. Under the series the Institute studies key public institutions which lie outside the executive branch of the government. These public institutions, i.e. Anti Corruption Commission, Bangladesh Public Service Commission, Bangladesh Election Commission, Office of the Comptroller & Auditor General of Bangladesh, and the Judiciary play a role, at least in theory, in making the executive branch accountable for its responsiveness to the citizenry in the delivery of public goods and services.
The Institute studies each institution separately under four themes i.e. independence, accountability, efficiency, and effectiveness and brings out do-able policy recommendations on a sequence that can raise the capability and performance of the institution. The findings and recommendations are disseminated through policy notes and background papers. Relevant stakeholders from outside and inside of government are engaged in policy formulation process.
